Gbenga, Since knowing you at Federal Government College Sokoto, you demonstrated excellence in behavior, academics, and professionalism. You were easy to relate to and very objective, truthful and analytical in your ways. Your boldness was demonstrated in the way you expressed yourself. These attributes must have made you excel in the engineering profession. We will definitely miss you and we know your family will miss you more. We are however comforted that you are resting in perfect peace in the bosom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May the Lord comfort and console your family. Amen. Yinka Oke

Ladies and gentlemen, above is the announcement of the passing of our dearest Oga, friend, colleague, mentor, boss and associate, Engr Olugbenga O Olabenjo, FNSE, FICE, FNICE, FIWE, etc. Engr OOO, was a distinguished, exceptional, extraordinary, talented, skilled professional engineer, technocratic, charismatic church community servant leader , committed Christian, and a passionate, committed and courageous champion for the welfare of all. He was strict, firm and a disciplinarian but full of milk of kindness, character, integrity, honest and caring and compassionate to all. Words are too few to describe who he was, he was a family man par excellence, husband to an accomplished lady of numerous achievements, father and grandfather to amazing very intelligent children and grandchildren, hence in home is called “Baba”. He was a rare detribalised Nigerian, a patriot who believed in the Nigerian dream. He was head boy at FGC Sokoto, schooled at ABU, worked in Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Ogun State, Federal Ministry of Works & Housing, ICAP, 1004 Estates, FEPA, Controller FMW& H, Gombe State, and retired from the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Abuja 15 years ago. Ladies and gentlemen, the essence of this platform is to honour, celebrate and send forth this unique amazing legend and icon by giving him a decent and befitting burial in faithfulness and thanksgiving to God Almighty and support his wife and family at this period grief and mourning the passing of this great man and hero 🦸‍♀️. Oga Olabenjo, as he was fondly called in the circle of his subordinates in the Ministry of Lands, housing and Urban Development was a God fearing man. He was known for his exemplary leadership qualities. I recalled how Oga Olabenjo was instrumental to my participation in The 13th International Conference of Women Engineers and Scientists, held in Seoul , South Korea in the year 2005. That was the beginning of my International trips in my career. I pray that The Almighty God shall send divine helpers to your family. According to 1 Kings 4v27 the officers assigned to deliver allocations to your family shall not delay in Jesus name. Amen 🙏 May your soul rest in perfect peace and The Almighty God shall grant your family the fortitude to bear the loss in Jesus name. Amen 🙏

My Dearest Uncle, The sad news of your demise came to me as a shock, Babaa as you’re fondly called by your immediate family and friends. I never thought that death could snatch you from us so soon, even though you’re battling with health challenges. We all love you but the Most High God who created you loves you most Babaa. Rest on my dear Uncle. Since you left this sinful world, the thought of your good deeds, care, support and word of advice kept flashing into my mind. I remembered vividly the day I came to inform you about my wedding Twenty-Nine (29) years ago, on sighting the invitation cards you spotted my other names starting all with letter B’s and you said, this is TRIPLE B. What was said casually on that day turns to a company’s name today: TRIPLE B GLOBAL VENTURES AND BT TRIPLE BEE GLOBAL VENTURES LIMITED. Thank God I was able to tell you this when you’re still alive, this gives me a lot of joy. I can remember when my dear sweet mother (your elder sister), was very sick and hospitalized at the hospital but eventually died after all efforts and medical attention given at the hospital. You didn’t allow me to pay a dime out of the total medical bills, you told me, Ebinpejo just don’t worry it’s been taken care off, same support was given throughout the preparation for my Mom’s burial. Thank you, so much dear Uncle. I will never forget the day, you, my dear son, Babajide and my good-self drove to FUNAAB Abeokuta, Ogun State in your car by your driver to see a family member who is a Professor in respect of my son’s admission into the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Thank God for a successful completion of his first degree six (6) years ago. Babaa, you will be remembered for all your good deeds, the lives you touched, supported and mentored. Today, I honour and pay tribute to my brother-in-law, proudly called Babaa-Engineer Olugbenga Olabenjo. Babaa was a gentleman and a caring husband to my sister, Mrs Omotayo Olabenjo and a good father to his children. His kindness and selflessness touched everyone who knew him. Babaa was a disciplinarian but he was always fair. He was full of good counsel and a great encourager. He lived a simple lifestyle but was very rich in values. One thing I will never forget is what he said to me when I was living with him and my sister. He said " You can achieve your dreams if only you are intentional about it. Though he is no longer with us, the footprints he left behind will continue to be remembered. His jovial nature and kind heart will continue to inspire us. May God grant Babaa eternal rest and give Mamaa and the children the grace to be strong. Sun re o, Omo o ni mushin ano koru, omo a fin kene kene o fi owo a fin mohun ro oba, omo Balogun gamu, gasa. Till we meet at Jesus's feet. ADIEU, BABAA.

Babaa will be missed for his fatherly role, his commitment to seeking the unity of the entire Popoola Olabenjo Family through his initiatives and thoughtfulness, his sense of obligation to his extended family members, and his love and dedication to his nuclear family. He made a mark in everyone's life. His legacies will always be remembered. During the ordeal my late husband went through before his passing, he was one person I could communicate with, and his role and words of encouragement was a strong support that helped all through the time. I pray that the Lord continue to be with and uphold those he left behind. May he continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord in Jesus name. Amen.

Gbenga and I were in the same Primary School from 1956 - 1963. We were quite close as children. We went to different secondary schools and after our university education; we found ourselves again. He was a true friend, he was committed and faithful. He shared some of his experiences at the Ministry of Works as an Engineer. He would not compromise with the authorities to do evil. He was a God-fearing man and totally devoted to his family. He also served faithfully in the church. He was humble and gentle. He loved people and would go out of his way to help others. Gbenga has gone ahead of us. I look forward to meeting with him again at the feet of Christ in heaven. Good night.

Today, we honor and celebrate the remarkable life of Engr. Olugbenga Olatunde Olabenjo—a man of profound substance, unyielding integrity, and deep affection, who passed away at the age of 75. ​Olugbenga was a towering figure not only in his profession but within the hearts of everyone who knew him. Professionally, his brilliant mind and tireless dedication earned him the highest distinctions as a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (FICE). His work left an indelible mark on the landscape of engineering, built on a foundation of excellence and mentorship. ​He was a deeply devoted husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather, and a protective brother and uncle. To his in-laws, he was a warm and welcoming anchor, and to his peers, a loyal and trusted friend. His presence brought stability, his smile brought warmth, and his guidance was a compass for many. ​Though his departure leaves an aching void, we find comfort in the rich blueprint of life he left behind—one of honor, service, and love. ​Rest in perfect peace, Engr. Olugbenga Olatunde Olabenjo. Your legacy lives on in the lives you built and the family you loved so dearly.

To my great Uncle (Baba), your sudden departure leaves an ache in our hearts, but your legacy of warmth, wisdom, and selfless love will forever guide us. Thank you for the joyous moments, the invaluable life lessons, and for always being a steady, reassuring presence. You may be gone from our sight, but you will never leave our hearts. Rest in peace.
